Legacy of An Adopted Child

Ginny's birthmom found this poem for me....I LOVE IT! It is in safe keeping next to Ginny's bed.

LEGACY OF AN ADOPTED CHILD
Once there were two women who never knew each other
One you do not remember, the other you call Mother
Two different lives shaped to make you one
One became your guiding star, the other became your sun
The first one gave you life, and the second taught you to live it
The first gave you a need for love, the second was there to give it
One gave you a nationality, the other gave you a name
One gave you a talent, the other gave you aim
One gave you emotions, the other calmed your fears
One saw your first sweet smile, the other dried you tears
One made an adoption plan, that was all that she could do
The other prayed for a child, and God led her straight to you.
Now, which of these two women, Are you the product of?
Both, my darling, Both, Just two different types of love.---- Unknown

Reese and Ginny....Ginny and Reese

Sung to the tune of "Max and Ruby". Ginny cracks up when I sing this to her and Reese. Ruby is the big sister and Max is the little brother, so the song fits well! I love my little "Max and Ruby" sooo much, it is sooo fun to watch how much they love each other. Reese looks at Ginny like she is the WORLD and Ginny thinks Reese is the cutest thing ever! They adore each other.

It is amazing how God can take two individuals, that arent of the same blood...brother and sister. It is a true testament of God's love. We are all brothers and sisters in Christ not matter what tummy we came from. GOD IS GOOD!

And whoever welcomes a little child like this in my name welcomes me.--- Matthew 18:5

I prayed for this child, and the LORD has granted me what I asked of him.---1 Samuel 1:27

Do not be afraid, for I am with you; I will bring your children from the east and gather you from the west. I will say to the north, `Give them up!' and to the south, `Do not hold them back.' Bring my sons from afar and my daughters from the ends of the earth-- --- Isaiah 43: 5-6

Why We love Daddy sooo much!

Ginny answered the following:

Mommy-Why do you love daddy sooo much?
Ginny-I just do. (with an attitude)
Mommy-What is your fav. thing to do with daddy?
Ginny-When we play toys and when we race.
Mommy-What is your fav. outfit your daddy wears?
Ginny-A shirt with a seahorse on it. (I am presuming a Polo shirt)
Mommy-What kind of work does daddy do?
Ginny-He helps ALLLLLLL the doctors.
Mommy-If you could say one thing to daddy what would it be?
Ginny-I want a horse with fins!

HAHHAA!!!

Daddy...we cannot wait to give you a big hug and KISS!!! Especially MOMMA, she is super excited to see you!!

What a day!

Today was beautiful!!! We are still in Temple...my sister is sick as a dog and my parents are in Vegas so I am watching her and taking care of her. We miss Daddy sooo much though and we cannot wait to see him! On a side note, my husband is amazing and I am sooo proud of him and who he has become! I pray that my son watches his daddy and follows his footsteps....I would be a lucky mama to have a son like that. It is sooo funny to look at Reese..he has my face and his daddy's body (little legs and large torsoe) He is cute like his daddy!

OK...Ginny didnt want to take pics today in the beautiful sun so since all Reese does is lay around I put the camera to good use today.

Reese loves his exersaucer!!!

This just cracks me up!! Turn up your volume~

Sibling Rivalry!

OK....

So I LOVE that these two are starting to have a love/hate relationship. He is starting to pull at your hair, try and grab at her and sometimes Ginny loves it and sometimes, she doesnt. I am starting to see that sibling rivalry and I LOVE IT!!! Maybe it is because I had MANY sibling rivalries with my brothers and sister. This is the start of a great friendship!!
but.....she sure is the biggest helper!

"He is going to be ALRIGHT"

Well, Today was a big day!!

Reese had his four month check up! He had four BIG shots...Daddy came because Mommy cant stand to see him in pain. Ginny kept the room "light and happy" when she said to Dr. Guetersloh....:Doctor? What is wrong with that mans face?" Referring to the Human Body map on the wall...I guess you had to be there, it was sooo funny!

Anyway, here is the breakdown:
Weight: 15.1 pounds (50-75 percentile)
Height: 25 inches (75 percentile..WOOHOO!)
Head: 17 inches (90 percentile...he has a lot of brains, ok???)

We can now start feeding him rice cereal. Tonight we attempted this and it wasnt his favorite thing, but with time I think he will start to like it. Reese is very happy just nursing, but the rice cereal might help with getting this boy to sleep.

I told Dr. G that Reese didnt liked to sleep at night and he said, "Lindsay, put him in his crib and close the door" and that is what I did tonight. It was the hardest thing in the world, but he is sound asleep and has been for the past 5 hours. I want to sooo badly sneak in there and grab him up! But, the doc said..."you need TOUGH LOVE, momma". I brought Allen with me to the doctor so he could be there to hear all that the doctor had to say AND so he could MAKE me put him straight to bed in his crib at night.

Ginny and Reese were treated to some fabulous Vday gifts from GiGi and Poppy!!! There is something sooo great when you arrive home from a rough day with a BIG package at the door... thanks Mom and Dad...Ginny has had a blast with all her goodies!!

Here is Reese's first Rice Cereal experience...

HAIRCUT!!

Ok....not to brag...but I guess I can since she isnt "made" by Allen and I. That is what is fun about when you adopt...when people say, "She is beautiful" you can respond..."i know, isnt she"

Ginny is a gem!!! BEAUTIFUL, dont you agree!!

Mommy LOVES ME NAKED!

Okay, so I might be a little over doing it...BUT, there is nothing more cute than a naked little baby!! Naturally, he LOVES to be naked and loves bath time!!! So I let my boy strut his stuff while Ginny was at school (we all know she likes to stare at his peepee and ask A MILLION questions about it...so I only do this when she isnt around! )

I love having a full tummy and being naked at the same time! (typical guy)
Even babies have cellulite!!!!

Are you talking about me????

I love being naked!!!!

Jump! Jump!

Okay, so we arent really jumping yet....But, just having fun!!!!

Silent Night.....

Ok...I dont know if I want to admit how spoiled Reese has been with sleeping. He would sleep with us, sleep in my arms, sleep anywhere that I was near. I mean, what four month old wakes up every 2 hours?? UMMM, that would be my son! BUT, not anymore! Thank goodness for my friend, Krisin Webber who is well known for sleep training in the Metroplex and for my pediatrician, Dr. Guetersloh. This book is amazing!!!!!!
I cant tell you how sad and upsetting it is to hear him SCREAM at the top of his lungs for me at night. This book is very PRO, Cry it Out. Some of you might think, how cruel....BUT, let me tell you....after trying EVERYTHING this book really works and helps you to understand the importance of sleep for babies! If his naps arent regular, bad night sleep, if there is no routine, bad night sleep. Everything you do during the day helps to mold what your nights look life.
Last night, we put Reese down at 7:30. He SCREAMED for an hour. I would check on him to make sure it he was OK, but I would not pick him up! This was miserable for me. I wanted to scream louder than he was. Then, he fell asleep....after some long whimpers. He was ready for a "dream feed" at 10:30, I fed him, put him back down (still no crying) and then he didnt wake up til 4am!!!!! I am so proud of us! It was hard.........I wanted so badly to rescue my crying son, but what I kept telling myself was..."He only wants my company that is why he is crying, I cannot rob him of his sleep." This book goes to say if you stick with the plan you should have a quiet baby at night by night 4-9. SOOOO, I need prayers that I can be strong through this. I am telling you, hearing your baby cry is sooo hard....BUT, is so needed for them to learn it is OK to self soothe. Maybe my problem is that I never want him to grow up. I never want him to do things on his own. I have to let him have some independence.
Lets just say......I DREAD the day I have to wean him from breastfeeding, or send him off to school, or put him in the church nursery even....OH NO, I think I have attachment issues...MORE ON THAT AT A LATER DATE! ha!
NEW MOMMIES: BUY THIS BOOK AND READ NOW!!!!!

4 months

My little boy is almost 4 months! WOW!

He is the sweetest little guy. Right now...He is trying so hard to roll over, but that fat belly keeps getting in the way. He is giggling when I tickle him, he eats every 3 hours, he LOVES his sister and his sister ADORES him and he seldom ever cries. During the day, he takes GREAT naps and at night he is a KILLER! He doesnt sleep! Last night, he woke up every 2-3 hours! We are really trying to work with him on sleeping through the night...but he doesnt want to help us out AT ALL! He is getting big and almost into 6 month clothing, he is finding out that his thumb is something he can suck on, he loves his bouncer and loves grabbing onto toys. Basically, he is just the perfect little boy (minus the sleeping problem). I cannot believe he is almost 4 months...it has been the best and most challenging four months of my life! Cant wait for the next 4!

Ginny LOVES CeCe's bird!

We will NEVER EVER EVER have a bird....so when Ginny goes to CeCe's (Allen's Moms) she loves to play with all the animals! I can barely have a dog right now....Bird, that is out of the question!

Birthday and Super Bowl Fun!

Cockroft Annual Super Bowl Game 2009
I had a wonderful weekend with my little family!! We went to Mi Cocina at the Shops of Legacy for some good Mexican food and a tasty margarita!! Then, I went to have a pedicure while Allen watched the kiddos....after that, we had a good long walk, went to the park and then Ginny and Allen made me a birthday cake!! It was very yummy!! I cannot believe another year has past. My birthday is a special day because last year I found out I was pregnant with Reesey! What a special surprise!!
Super Bowl Sunday....well the boys had their annual football game and it was HILARIOUS!! They are getting older and well, slower! ha! The MVP trophy sat in our study for a year and now it has been passed along (thank GOODNESS)....it really didnt go with my decor! :) We had a great time at the Cockrofts and then went to the Orendains for some more fun and to watch the game! Overall, it was a very busy weekend but we had a great time!!! Reese enjoyed seeing his little buddy, Brayden who is a month younger than Reese. The cute thing is that John and Allen grew up together and are great friends...now their sons can become buds and play on the football field together some day!
