Ginny and her teetee issues

Ok....let me back track for you. Ginny was potty trained right around her 22 months. She wanted NOTHING to do with diapers! I was sooo glad. We did everything from rewarding her with 2 M&M's to letting her pick out the prettiest panties. Ginny was a champ...she would go everytime on the potty.

Lately, she has been overally excited and doesnt not want to go to the potty when she feels a teetee coming on. She will do every kind of dance, stick her bottom out, run in circles EVERYTHING until we have to force her to use the restroom. Lets face it....the girl is excited, energetic, popular, fun (you get the picture) that going to the bathroom is the last way she wants to spend her sweet time.

Here is our convo tonight:

Me: Ginny, you have to go to the potty RIGHT NOW, GO!

Ginny: Mommy...I am playing...I will go later.

Me: Ginny NOW!!!!!!!

Ginny: I dont have to go Mommy!

Me: 1....2..... (never making it to THREE...you know the drill)

**Ginny sits down from her teetee dance**

Ginny: Mommy, when I sit all the teetee goes back up in me and I dont have to go anymore. That is what I do...sit down and the teetee sucks right back up.

Me: PURE LAUGHTER!!!!

She is the light of my world and without her my laughs would be few and my patience would never be tested. She might be 3 1/2 but she acts like she is 12.

So, we have a game...the faster she runs to the potty the faster she gets a PRIZE! We will see how this one goes for the week!!!

Reese is charting consistently in the 75% range! Allen and I are both excited about that one! He continues to be agreat nurser and eater! Right now his favorite foods are chicken, avocado, sweet potatoes, peas, graham crackers, yogurt and any fruit especially mango! He will eat anything I put in front of him though! He is now pulling up on everything!!!! He gets into EVERYTHING!!! It is fun to see his little personality....he loves his momma but now the independence is starting to kick in!!

I cannot believe his next appt. will be for his 1 year check up!!!! I dont want to even talk about it or I might just well....CRY!!

Well Rested

I cannot tell you how excited I am. Reese finally fell asleep around 9:20PM...we watched the monitor like two kids! I couldnt take it anymore so I cleaned house, called my mom...anything to distract me. THEN, finally he gave up, grabbed his lovey and went to sleep! I was soooo proud of him! He is learning to self soothe. When I went to bed I decided to turn the monitor down and let Reese repeat the cycle of self soothing if he were to wake up during the night. Lets just say JULY 12th 2009 was the best night of sleep I have had in over a year!!! Allen turned up the monitor when he left the house at 6AM so when Reese woke up I would be able to hear him. At 7:30AM, I woke up to a talking little baby...well rested, happy and would you believe that he loved me all the same even though I made him deal with it and self soothe. :) I RAN into his room, soooo proud, rocked and nursed him and then we started our day!!! I was sooo well rested that I took the kids to the gym for a killer workout and now Reese is asleep in his crib for his morning nap! He only cried for 3 minutes!!!!!

Reese at 9:30PM, sound asleep!!!!

To all my encouraging friends....THANK YOU!!!! I had so many people praying for us that we would have the will power to take on this task! Even though that little baby cries and it breaks your heart....trust that he needs his sleep and rest more than YOU!!!

P.S. Our new puppy Jax only woke up once to go outside last night!!!! WOW, he must have gotten the memo to self soothe or pee himself...either one!!! :)

My Challenge

I dont have much time to write about all that is going on around here! Yes, we have a new dog...yes, my son just turned 9 months (can you believe it)....Yes we attend gymnastics regularly...yes, Allen has a new partner with Stryker and they are well.."kicking butt" and all I want to blog about is the fact that I want my baby boy to SLEEP.

SO....

We are basically using the "Cry it Out" method. We have tried everything and according to Healthy Sleep Habits, Healthy Child...it is time for Reese to self soothe. This week two teeth appeared and he started crawling on his knees. The first week of his 9 month milestone has been a big one and with the encouragement of my peditrician, it is time for Reese to get this whole sleeping thing down on his own. YES YES YES...I should have done this at 8 weeks...But, c'mon.....I just couldnt stand it!

So here we are...

Night One:

Bedtime-8:30PM (still crying and it is 8:56PM)

Tonight Reese ate a big meal of sweet peas, carrots, mango and chicken, he went on a walk with Daddy and then I nursed him and rocked him. I starred into his sweet eyes and said, "night night, I love you" and then I put him in his crib with his lovey and paci. I am listening to his cry and I seriously think that my heart is breaking. I think I am having a heart attack it hurts so bad! I have never had this feeling...EVER. I am listening to a SCREAM for help and I am told I cannot go in there. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?! I must stay strong and let him self soothe. This could be the hardest venture with Reese yet!
Tomorrow I will post about tonight. I love my little boy soooo much that it kills me to hear him cry and to see him on the monitor standing in his crib. But, I love him soooo much that I want him to sleep well and be well rested and healthy! Sweet Dreams my little man..... I hope....
